Prequal, up front
The prequal packet,
already on the table.
Everything an estimator screens for before adding a sub to a bid list is public record, not a sales pitch. License number and classifications, USDOT carrier status, BBB history, insurance certificates on request, bonding capacity on request. We'll hand you the verification links before you ask: aclb.arkansas.gov, safer.fmcsa.dot.gov, and bbb.org.
Larry Cox Construction, Inc. (dba Cox Earthworks) holds AR Contractors Licensing Board License #3287-C (Commercial), active, expiring 04/2027, with classifications in Highway, Railroad & Airport Construction and Underground Piping, Cable, Trenching & Boring. Company trucks and drivers operate under USDOT #581938 as an active intrastate carrier with a clean safety record. The BBB file has been open since 2006 with zero complaints. The company incorporated in 2009 on top of a family dirt-work operation running since 1972 — three generations, Larry, Connie, Matthew and Lance Cox.
One sub, one mobilization
We self-perform the scope —
no daisy-chain of subs.
Most small sitework subs bid the grading and sub out the rock, the utilities, or the hauling to whoever they can get scheduled. That's more mobilizations, more coordination risk, and more places for a schedule to slip. Cox self-performs mass grading and GPS pad prep, clearing and grubbing, underground utilities, rock excavation, hauling and demolition with our own crews and our own iron. One contract, one crew on site, one point of accountability when something needs to change.
Rock doesn't stall the job
Rock doesn't stop
the schedule.
A 10,000-lb hydraulic hammer on an 80,000-lb excavator means rock encountered mid-grading gets broken in place the same day, same crew — no blasting subcontractor to schedule, no blast permits, no evacuating the site. It works beside existing structures and utilities without the seismic risk a shot carries.
Pricing before you ask
Published rates
support your bid.
We publish an hourly equipment rate sheet at dozer work & equipment rates — unusual transparency for a sub. T&M work and change-order pricing are already public before you ever have to ask for a number, which makes budgeting and change-order review faster on your end.
GPS/GNSS machine control has been part of the operation since 2007, when Cox ran one of the first Topcon 3D systems in Arkansas on the City of Heber Springs softball complex — covered by Construction Equipment magazine and For Construction Pros, which reported grading accuracy to a half inch. Today's Komatsu intelligent machine-control dozers hold finish grade to a tenth of a foot.
